SOLGM is local government's professional management organisation. SOLGM works with local government to build capability of local government managers and staff.

SOLGM has approximately 570 members (full, honorary, associate and life members) throughout all local authorities in New Zealand, comprising of Chief Executives, senior managers and emerging managers.
These members span all disciplines in local government including corporate services, human resources, finance, engineering, planning, regulatory, infrastructure, asset management, policy, environment and communications.

SOLGM Individual Membership fees:
- SOLGM Full Membership is suitable for the chief executive, and executive officers or senior managers who are responsible for substantial activity in the local authority. Subscription is $261.30 plus GST.
– SOLGM Associate Membership is suitable for emerging managers or those who are new to management. Subscription for an Associate Member is $139.50 plus GST.
– SOLGM Honorary Membership is suitable for a current SOLGM member who is leaving or has left the local government sector but still wants to be kept updated with developments in local government. Subscription is $79.50 plus GST.
