James Linklater – Australia

Michael Stephens
Michael is an Associate Clinical Professor in University College Dublin working in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, The Children's University Hospital, Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital and the Central Remedial Clinic all in Dublin, Ireland. His practice is limited to the surgical treatment of foot and ankle disorders in adults and children. He is the past President of the European Foot & Ankle Society and the Irish Orthopaedic Association. He is the Editor of the European Journal "Foot & Ankle Surgery". For many years he has taken one Foot & Ankle Clinical Fellow every six months many from Australia and one from New Zealand.
Michael has over 200 papers published in peer reviewed journals – full details of this can be seen in www.footstep.ie. Over the years Michael has been visiting Professor to units all over the world apart from South America. He has published multiple chapters in books and published the first and second edition of "The Atlas of Foot & Ankle Surgery" co-edited by colleagues Nikolaus Wulker and Andy Cracchiolo.

Charles Saltzman
Dr. Charles L. Saltzman is a Professor, and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah and is the chair holder of the Louis S. Peery, MD Presidential Endowed Chair in the Deparment of Orthopaedics. He joined the University in October 2005 and heads a department consisting of 40 orthopaedic surgeons practicing in a free-standing orthopaedic hospital, a satellite of the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. The Department has a strong resident and fellow education program.
Prior to his appointment as chairman, Dr. Saltzman was a professor at the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
He attended Brown University, the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Michigan and a Foot and Ankle Fellowship under the guidance of Dr. Kenneth A. Johnson at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Dr. Saltzman has authored more than 100 peer reviewed publications and 25 book chapters. He has co-edited the foot and ankle sections of 2 major orthopaedic textbooks, and is also the co-editor of Surgery of the Foot and Ankle, Volumes I and II. He is past President of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and has served, among other posts, as the Program Chairman and Research Council Chairman for the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Dr. Saltzman has been the principal investigator on two major current NIH studies. He has participated as a faculty member and a Chairman of several AAOS instructional courses. In addition, he has been the Co-Chair for the AAOS Comprehensive Review Course on the foot and ankle and the AOFAS "Advanced Foot and Ankle surgery Course"

Ned Amendola
Unfortunately, for personal reasons Professor Amendola can no longer attend the meeting. Professor Amendola's talks will be given by Professor Saltzman.
Annunziato (Ned) Amendola, MD, professor of orthopaedics and rehabilitation at the University of Iowa is the director of the University of Iowa Sports Medicine program. He currently holds the Kim and John Callaghan Endowed Chair in sports medicine. He currently is head team physician for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. He is an internationally recognized expert in arthroscopic surgery, in particular knee and foot and ankle reconstruction. His clinical research interests focus on improving the understanding, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports and activity-related injuries.
Dr Amendola earned his medical degree and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Prior to joining the University of Iowa in 2001, he was an associate professor and chief of orthopedic surgery at the University of Western Ontario University Hospital.
Dr Amendola is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, and Diplomate of the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine. He is an active member of many orthopaedic and sports medicine organizations, including Director on the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Board of Directors of the international Society of Arthroscopy, Knee surgery and Orthopaedic Sports medicine ( ISAKOS), and American orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) .
